# How do I silence W&B info messages?

W\&B emits info-level log messages by default, which can clutter notebook output. This page describes two ways to reduce or silence those messages: adjust the Python logger level, or use a W\&B environment variable.

To suppress log messages in your notebook such as this:

```text theme={null}
INFO SenderThread:11484 [sender.py:finish():979]
```

Set the log level to `logging.ERROR` to show only errors, which suppresses info-level log output.

```python theme={null}
import logging
logger = logging.getLogger("wandb")
logger.setLevel(logging.ERROR)
```

Alternatively, use a W\&B environment variable to control log verbosity:

* To reduce log output, set the `WANDB_QUIET` environment variable to `True`.
* To turn off log output completely, set the `WANDB_SILENT` environment variable to `True`.

In a notebook, set `WANDB_QUIET` or `WANDB_SILENT` before you run `wandb.login`:

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Notebook">
    ```python theme={null}
    %env WANDB_SILENT=True
    ```
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Python">
    ```python theme={null}
    import os
    os.environ["WANDB_SILENT"] = "True"
    ```
  </Tab>
</Tabs>
