# How do you show a step slider in a custom chart?

A step slider lets viewers scrub through logged steps in a custom chart. To enable it, open the **Other settings** page of the custom chart editor. Changing the query to use a `historyTable` instead of a `summaryTable` exposes the **Show step selector** option, which adds a slider for selecting the step.
